COMPTON — The La Mirada football team had all three phases of the game working early Thursday night. La Mirada scored the game's first 23 points and rolled to a 43-21 win over shorthanded Dominguez to open Gateway League play. The Matadores (3-3, 1-0) got three rushing touchdowns from CJ Zackery and a big all-around effort from Trevor Cook. In the first half alone, Cook blocked a punt in the end zone that led to a safety, recorded a sack for a loss of 12 yards on the previous play and pulled in a 36-yard touchdown reception just before halftime to put La Mirada up 36-14 at the break.
