San Gabriel Valley Boys Athlete of the Week Name: Julien Gomez School: La Mirada Sport: Basketball Year: Sophomore Noteworthy: The Matadores' sophomore continues to come through in big games and big moments. In a non-league game against Foothill, a team that had just one loss at the time, Gomez poured in 30 points with seven rebounds in a 53-50 victory. A few nights later, they played another one-loss team in Downey for first place in the Gateway League, and Gomez was clutch again, scoring six of his game-high 29 points in overtime to lift the Mats to a 63-56 victory.
